Here are a list of books that have made a strong personal impact on me in terms of quality of content and information. Most relate specifically to grain-free/gluten-free diets. Some don't. I have included them here anyway as they contain excellent information relating to food sensitivities in general, or they include excellent grain-free/gluten-free recipes as well as information that is well worth a read.

I have purchased most of these books from Amazon even though I live in Australia. I have included the link to Amazon as the reader reviews for these books will explain to you very well why that book is included here.  I also earn a very small commission if you choose to purchase any of these books from Amazon, which I will greatly appreciate as it all helps support the running of this website.

Gut and Psychology Syndrome: Natural Treatment for Autism, Dyspraxia, A.D.D., Dyslexia, A.D.H.D., Depression, Schizophrenia

This is the definitive GAPS book, a must read for anyone undertaking the GAPS diet.

Breaking the Vicious Cycle: Intestinal Health Through Diet

This is the orginal book I purchased many years ago about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.  An excellent read for anyone doing the SCD or GAPS diet, it has great information plus some delicious recipes.

Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats

This cookbook is not specifically grain free but a must have resource for anyone interested in returning to traditional methods of cooking including soaking and fermenting, making your own yoghurt and kefir, soaking and dehydrating your own crispy nuts and just about everything else.  Amazing information about the benefits of coconut oil and animal fats, I refer to this book regularly and find it contains enough completely amazing grain free recipes to keep it always on the "main shelf" for cookbooks in my kitchen.

The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health and boundless energy (Primal Blueprint Series)

I visit the author's website almost daily for recipes, excellent articles on all aspects of "going primal" and motivation and inspiration.  This is his book for those who prefer to have something on the bookshelf.

Going Against the Grain: How Reducing and Avoiding Grains Can Revitalize Your Health

Another "classic" grain-free book.

There are many more books, as soon as a get more time I will update some of my favourite cookbooks here.

General Recipe Notes

All recipes measurements are in METRIC. If you wish to convert to imperial please use the convertor tool supplied on each recipe page and use the same (either all metric or all imperial) for the whole recipe.

Some points for American readers on metric measurements are:

1 cup is 250ml which is slightly larger than the imperial 1 cup of an 8 oz measure.  1 tblspoon is 20 ml which again is slightly larger than the imperial tablespoon measure of 15ml.  In most recipes this should not make too much of a difference, especially if you exchange all metric for all imperial.  Cookie recipes need accuracy however so if your cookies are not turning out (either too soft or spreading too much) the problem will most likely be the measures.

Nearly all recipes are cooked in a moderate 180°C oven, which is 350 °F / Gas 4.
